A friendly match… at high risk? LOSC must travel to the Arena Planet Group pitch to face Gantoise in a friendly match scheduled for Wednesday July 17. According to information from the Belgian club, the match will be free for all their subscribers and tickets have been sold on a limited basis since Friday June 28. Even though the meeting is friendly, it has been assessed by security services as a high-risk match. Measures have been taken to avoid any excesses or clashes between supporters. Thus, La Gantoise made the decision not to authorize the presence of Lille supporters in the stadium. Bruno Genesio’s men will not be able to count on the support of their supporters during this “Fans’ match”.
This decision quickly sparked a reaction from LOSC supporters on social networks. “Even for friendly matches, visiting supporters are unwelcome… You might as well go and play them on the other side of the world after all,” says a Lille supporter on his X account (ex-Twitter). “A friendly match, to prepare for the season, classified as high risk. We make fun of the French authorities, but Belgium is not bad either…” declares another.
A busy summer preparation
This meeting against La Gantoise is one of the preparation matches scheduled throughout the month of July. The people of Lille will have a very busy month of July. They will have to attend a pre-season training course from July 20 to 24 in Iserlohn, Germany. LOSC will also soon face: KMSK Deinze on July 9, V Mechelen on July 13, KAA Genk on July 17, KRC Genk on July 20 and VfL Wolfsburg on July 24. The opponent for the last preparation match, scheduled for July 30, is not yet known.
