Rome, 28 June (askanews) – The Aigg Golden Ball/Fulvio Golob Award was awarded to Roberto Zappa, Technical Commissioner of the National Women’s Amateur Golf Team.

The award ceremony was held, as always, during the 81st Italian Open at the Adriatic Golf Club in Cervia Cervia. In the Press Room of the DP World Tour tournament, Roberto Zappa was awarded by the president of the Fig, Franco Chimenti, the president of the Aigg, Stefano Cazzetta and the AIGG councilor, Paolo Emilio Pacciani.

The recognition of the Italian Association of Golf Journalists rewards the person who has distinguished himself most in the panorama of Italian golf for competitive, technical or managerial merits. Every year the Italian Association of Golf Journalists awards the “Pallina d’Oro 2023 – Targa Fulvio Golob” prize, which was awarded to Roberto Zappa, a professional with thirty years of experience, technical commissioner of the women’s national amateur team and one of the most appreciated voices of golf on Sky Sport.

The award rewards the person who – in the opinion of the Aigg journalists – has most distinguished himself in the panorama of Italian golf for competitive, technical or managerial merits. Voting involves the formulation of a series of nominations by the Association’s board of directors, after a survey among all members. For each category (players, technicians, managers) three names are indicated. Members must cast a vote for each category. The candidate who receives the most votes overall is awarded the prize. This year, as mentioned, it was Roberto Zappa’s turn, who had already climbed to the second step of the podium in 2012, winning the Silver Ball.
