Marina di Ragusa the no antenna committee finds support in some councilors

Ragusa – The complaint and protest against the installation of a telephone antenna in the area of via Ammiraglio Rizzo in Marina di Ragusa, by a spontaneous committee of residents of the seaside hamlet, immediately found support in the city councilors Federico Bennardo, Rossana Caruso and Sebastiano Zagami who took action with the city administration by forwarding a request for access to the documents. The spontaneous committee against the installation of the antenna/repeater that calls itself the “we don’t want the antenna” committee, had emphasized that the system, despite being 25 meters high, due to the differences in level in the area of via Ammiraglio Rizzo, would be at the level of the roofs of some homes, raising possible risks to the health of residents.

For their part, the three city councilors that we have long defined as the ‘three caballeros’ or ‘the dissidents’ of the majority in whose ranks they were elected, and who since the beginning of their term have distinguished themselves for their critical positions towards the Cassi’ administration, immediately took action by requesting, as we said above, access to the documents. In a press release they state “we have been reached by a request for clarification from some citizens residing in Marina di Ragusa on the work currently underway in the same coastal hamlet for the construction of an antenna/repeater for telecommunications purposes. We have therefore presented a request for access to the documents in order to know the documentation in the possession of the body regarding the use of public land and/or concession for the construction of the same currently underway in via Ammiraglio Rizzo”.

Federico Bennardo, Sebastiano Zagami and Rossana Caruso add “if they were formally documented, we also asked to know the details of the project and any documents in the body’s possession regarding any environmental impact or health risk of the antenna/repeater. Marina di Ragusa experiences a periodic and exponential increase in the population during the summer season which makes adaptation work within the hamlet essential to avoid disruptions: think of the water network, the electricity network and, last but not least, the telecommunications network. Regarding the latter, however, it is good to know first what the options are on the table in order to choose the best one in terms of impact”. (dice.)
