The highly anticipated second edition of will be the protagonist this weekend Lucca Fashion Weekendthe event dedicated to fashion that opens again to the city, after the success of the zero edition, creating synergy between art and historical spaces, to trace new and innovative exploratory paths and define a local language that looks to the future, with a combination of valorisation of the territory, new contemporary visions and artisan tradition.

It will be two days full of events: installations, talks, exhibitions and presentations in conversation with suggestive locations and art buildings among the most beautiful in the city, divided as follows: a program END of fashion shows of important national brands in the basement of the Walls of Lucca, a program OFF of presentations and combinations with gastronomy, craftsmanship, commercial activities in a packed calendar of free events and creative proposals inside or outside the walls: fashion shows of new garments, open air shootings, presentations or thematic aperitifs; a program EXP of subject exhibitions which will include three special exhibitions dedicated to fashion.

Lucca Fashion Weekend therefore represents a new opportunity to make the area known, its artisanal and commercial realities, its places and panoramas, with the aim of protecting tradition but with an eye always attentive to research and experimentation.

It is an idea of ​​the councilor for commerce and productive activities of the Municipality of Lucca, Paola Granucci, with the collaboration of the Banca del Monte Foundation and the North West Chamber of Commerce, as supporters of the event.

The Silk Road

Tomorrow (28 June) at 11am the inauguration of the Via della Seta project will also be held as part of the Lucca Fashion Weekend programme. The ambitious goal is to revive via dei Fossi, which was the main headquarters of the artisans’ workshops for silk processing and where large-scale techniques of this material were used for the first time. The owners of the currently disused properties contributed to the realization of this initiative, making the premises available, the association of Lucca weaverswhich will hold workshops and demonstrations, as well as the artist Francesco Zavattari who took care of the special layout of the street and the trade associations who will organize a market of artisanal products related to silk. The opportunity to retrace an important historical moment in Lucca’s trade.

Talk

Among the many initiatives of the event, the talk will take place tomorrow (June 28) at 5.30 pm in the auditorium of the Banca del Monte Foundation Creativity, innovation and raw materials in fashion entrepreneurship, open to all citizens, enthusiasts and the press. On this occasion, Anna Molinari, founder of the Blumarine brand, Elena Sanguankeo, creator of innovative fabrics, and Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli, expert in the history of fashion, will offer unique perspectives on how raw materials and innovation influence fashion entrepreneurship. She moderates the journalist Katia Perrini.
