Palazzo del Pincio, handover between Tedesco and Piendibene

CIVITAVECCHIA – Handover between the outgoing mayor Ernesto Tedesco and the incoming one Marco Piendibene. Today two important moments for the newly elected mayor of Civitavecchia, in fact in the morning – around 11am – the operations of the electoral commission concluded and at 11.05am there was the proclamation of those elected. In the evening, then, a more technical passage to the Pincio with the Piendibene team, led by the mayor, who met the former mayor Tedesco, his council and the financial services manager Francesco Battista who, under the supervision of the former councilor M5S of the Cozzolino council at the Budget Florina Tuoro – reappeared on the political stage after a five-year absence – illustrated the state of the art of finances and projects of the municipality of Civitavecchia.

Immediately afterwards the Mayor came down to the Pucci Hall for a small ceremony where Tedesco spoke praising the qualities of Piendibene who «is above all a good person and this is an added value for a city that needs good people» , thanks then to Dr. Carlo Tarantino for the great work done during Covid and the collaboration shown, despite being in opposition, for the benefit of the city.

Piendibene then added: «There are things already started on which there is no possibility of proceeding for the interest of the community, now the first municipal council will be convened in which there will be the choice of the president of the council and, therefore, the vote of him and the vice president, then subsequently the council team will be made. Immediately after the time of things that are predetermined by law will end and ordinary administration will begin.”

As regards the state of the municipal coffers, «we are not in advance of cash – added Piendibene -, the accounts will certainly suffer when Enel’s 6 million are missing from the beginning of 2026. We have time to think about this even if the situation is very critical because it is clear that if a solution is not found, 6 million, for a municipality like Civitavecchia, are not easily traceable figures but we knew it.”

Now all that remains is to untie the knot of the government team that will be at Piendibene’s side in the coming years. Among the candidates there is certainly Tuoro, given his reappearance after years of absence from the political radar, and the city councilor Patrick Scilipoti who could cover roles related to development and port management given the experience gained in the sector.
