Sixth place and second best Italian team
MATERA. The 2013 PalioAcanestro Opportunity group returns from the Matera International Tournament with an extraordinary sixth place and an ever greater desire to be together.
The boys led on this occasion by Rosy Galasso, accompanied by Claudio Cocchia and Gianpaolo Toscano, had an amazing journey, sixth out of 48 participating teams, second best team in Italy after Bees Pesaro.
After passing the first phase as first in the group with three victories in as many matches against Selvezzano (Pd), Parma and Kioko Caserta, the boys also overcame SMG Latina, thus going to play with Sarajevo for the possibility of accessing the final in 5-6 place . The 2013 team also achieved this objective, thus earning their ticket to the final 5-6 place against Toronto Canada.
Despite the great determination that characterized the boys throughout the tournament, the achievement of fifth place was only very close, but PalioAcestrOpportunity still achieved an exceptional result, thanks to the great character of the boys who joined together right from the start and put on the pitch a great desire to win but above all to have fun. A credit that goes above all to the clubs they belong to who can only be proud of their athletes.

We had the opportunity to compete with beautiful Italian and foreign teams. We took advantage of every type of opportunity presented, from new friendships on and off the pitch, from recreational activities in the village, magical excursions in the Matera murge and targeted basketball training sessions, in line with our entire project. It was also a constructive experience for us, the technical staff and the entire management team. I for one am amazed, delighted and grateful for all the trust and great response that the kids, parents and their respective companies are showing us. We are in our third year and every experience we have lived together is something surprising and not to be taken for granted. Nice to return home tired, but happy to have given 110 percent in PalioAcanestro Opportunity”.
