Attacks in Versilia, Serra (Fi): “Alarming signs of growing youth violence”

“The attack that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Viareggio, where a group of boys brutally attacked three peers, is an alarming sign of growing youth violence”.

Violent attacks on peers, three perpetrators identified: they are all minors

To support it is Anna Serrahead of the Forza Italia Security Department in the province of Lucca.

“This aggression, initially between six against three and then degenerated with the intervention of about twenty young people, highlights a worrying herd dynamic – explains the Italian representative -. The use of helmets as weapons, as well as punches and kicks, testifies to the escalation of brutality. As a psychologist, it is evident the urgency of strengthening emotional education and conflict management programs in schools. Families and institutions must work together to create a support network to prevent aggressive behavior. It is crucial to promote dialogue between parents, teachers and children.”

And then he launches an appeal to politics. “The institutions must intervene decisively. We need to invest in initiatives that promote social inclusion and the peaceful management of conflicts. Increased law enforcement presence can act as a deterrent to violence – adds Serra -. Youth violence is a social problem that requires collective commitment. The Viareggio episode must serve as a warning to us: we must act now to protect our young people and guide them towards a better future.”
