In Sophia Veritas, the first Book Party on the Fiumicino seafront

Tuesday 2 July from 7.30pm at La Bussola 4042 in Fiumicino

The first Book Party on the Roman seafront, “In Sophia Veritas” is organized for the next one Tuesday 2 Julynear it La Bussola 4042 bathing establishment in Fiumicino. The event was born from an idea of the Cultural Association A Casa di Sophia, in collaboration with the Neapolitan publishing house Graus Editions That will offer 200 free books for the guests of the evening and for the customers of the establishment which will set up, throughout the season, a reading corner where you can borrow a book and/or leave your own.

“It might seem like a paradox, but in a society that reads less and less, where it is difficult to spend more than a few minutes without one’s smartphone and where artificial intelligence is taking the place of human intelligence and, worse still, emotional intelligence, reading parties – or book parties – have become a cool phenomenon – he says Valeria Genova, president of the A Casa di Sophia association – The trend comes from the United States, born by chance from some friends who were passionate about reading, but sucked into the rhythms of modern life, and therefore with little time to dedicate to a good book, they decided to organize evenings and events on the theme of reading. Parties, aperitifs, dinners involving dozens of people who meet in a specific location and read! Not only that: they chat, eat, discuss and above all spend time without technology, united by the passion for reading and the curiosity to know. The only rule of the evening: Leave your cell phone at the entrance until the end of the evening.”

Not to be confused with reading groups, because in book parties everyone reads and talks about what they want, sipping a beer or a coffee, chatting or listening; they are opportunities to “connect” with those who have a passion for books and to “disconnect” from digital.

To accompany the evening there will be live music with a violinist. Are you ready to do it Are you looking for company or alone in front of an aperitif on the beach?
