After a very successful winter season which always saw every concert sold out, the Amici del Quartetto association promises an equally captivating and high-level summer session with the 34th edition of the historic “Music & Wine” festival, in which the great music and the great wines (and sometimes even the foods) of the area meet at the top. The kick-off is scheduled for Friday 28 June at 9.15pm, in the church of San Niccolò in Montepescali with the long-awaited concert of the duo formed by Turkish musicians Cihat Askin to the violin And Sinan Ersahin at the guitar, which offer an electrifying and refined program that ranges from Renaissance music to the tango of Astor Piazzolla through the strings of the violin and guitar of a duo of the highest artistic and international caliber. Inside, among other things, one of the churches with one of the most beautiful acoustic qualities in the area and which will make the show even more fascinating.

The musicians

The violinist Cihat Askin, born in Istanbul, is known as the international representative of the Turkish violin school, has given recitals and concerts in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Holder of numerous national and international awards, including the Menuhin and Flesch competitions, he received the Foyer des Artistes of Rome in 2002. He is a professor at Istanbul University and was director of the Turkish State Conservatory of Music.

Sinan Ersahin he completed his studies at the Ankara State Conservatory and perfected his skills with the most important guitarists, with whom he also developed a particular predilection for contemporary music. He has performed for the largest festivals in various parts of the world, collaborating as a soloist with prestigious orchestras. He is a teacher at the Istanbul State Conservatory and is the artistic director of the Crr Istanbul Guitar Festival.

The concert is organized in collaboration with the parish of Montepescali and the Mutual Aid Workers’ Society and entry, as for all the other 11 concerts that make up the Music & Wine Festival, is free and without reservation.

Upcoming concerts

The next events of the 34th Music & Wine Festival are scheduled, starting from next July 6th, both in the other hamlets of the Municipality of Grosseto (which is co-organizer of the event) and at the Terme Marine Leopoldo II in Marina di Grosseto, with two nice “incursions outside the gates” in Campagnatico (August 11th) and in Sticciano Alto (August 18th).
