The issue of security continues to be at the top of the political agenda of the municipal administration of Bitonto. Mayor Francesco Paolo Ricci announced significant developments after attending the provincial committee for public order and safetychaired by the prefect Francesco Russo. Also present at the committee were the Police Commissioner of Bari, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri and the commander of the Guardia di Finanza.

I requested a strengthening of the police presence“, declared Ricci, “obtaining a commitment to greater control of the territory with joint and frequent interventions by the police, as well as particular attention to the fight against illegal activity and the phenomenon of ‘altered’ electric bikes‘”.

Mayor Ricci also underlined that the local Police station will be strengthened with two additional units. “In synergy with all the law enforcement agencies, whom I thank once again for their work, we will continue to combat all forms of petty crime and widespread crime. Let us all feel like protagonists of this battle against those who demonstrate that they do not want the good of our communityà”, added Ricci.

This decision comes after citizens’ requests were heard and carried forward by the mayor. Territorial security will be improved through joint and frequent interventions, an important signal for a community that requires greater protection and attention.

The advisor of Fratelli d’Italia, Francesco Toscano, commented on the recent developments: “We had highlighted with a press release, a few days ago, that our city deserved more attention, more men, more security. And it thundered so much, that it rained“.

Toscano acknowledged the positive outcome of the meeting, however, stressed that these measures must not only be temporary. “We thank the Russian prefect for his attention, but it cannot just be a temporary and summer ‘refreshment’. The principals they must be kept all year round, especially in a city as complex and extensive as ourswhich even has an agricultural area that extends to the borders of Altamura.

Councilor Toscano concluded his speech by asking greater certainties and constant patrols And more present among the people, in the streets and squares, not just in company cars. The safety of the city, according to Toscano, must be guaranteed all year round and not limited to occasional interventions.

The citizens of Bitonto are now waiting to see the concrete results of these commitments, hoping for an improvement in safety and quality of life in the community.
