Giorgio Benevenuto in Cagliari to commemorate Giacomo Matteotti

The Enrico Berlinguer Foundation and the CSC of Cagliari of the Società Umanitaria – Cineteca Sarda dedicate a public debate with Giorgio Benvenuto, president of the Bruno Buozzi foundation, to Giacomo Matteotti, staunch defender of democracy and Parliament, murdered by fascists one hundred years ago.

The initiative will be held on Wednesday 26 June 2024, 5.30 pm, in Cagliari, Fondazione Enrico
Berlinguer, via Emilia 39. The meeting, coordinated by Gian Piero Liori and Angela Testone, of the scientific committee of the Berlinguer Foundation, will be introduced by a speech by Piero Comandini, president of the regional council.

This will be followed by the screening of the documentary “Figures of anti-fascism: Giacomo Matteotti”, 1976, by Arturo
Colombo and Giorgio Romano – with the presentation of Antonello Zandadirector of the CSC of Cagliari
of the Humanitarian Society – Cineteca Sarda – containing testimonies and interviews with Pietro Nenni,
Umberto Terracini, Giorgio Amendola, Pietro Scoppola, Gaetano Arfé, Denis Mack Smith, Paolo
Alatri and Don Lorenzo Bedeschi.

Giorgio Benvenuto, currently president of the Bruno Buozzi Foundation and former parliamentarian and
general secretary of the UIL, will give the central speech at around 6.45 pm. The debate, in which anyone who wishes will participate, includes the scheduled interventions of Beatrice Muscasmayor of Samassi and Barbara Pusceddu, mayor of Sinnai.
