Lomellina hit by bad weather. After the devastating hurricane of August 26th which deeply affected Vigevano and its territory, causing damage that still needs to be repaired, today we are dealing with Friday’s violent hailstorm: ice grains with a diameter of 3 and even 4 millimeters which have altered the bodies of cars parked in the street and several windows of houses broken. Furthermore, for the municipal buildings the damage is still being assessed, while in Piazza Ducale the violence of the storm broke the lamp holders of the street lamps.

But the Ticino Park also felt the consequences of the bad weather: many paths that enter the woods, a destination for nature and trekking enthusiasts, are blocked by falling large trunks.

The most affected areas are the Sforzesca district of Vigevano and the municipalities of Gambolò and Borgo San Siri. “The verification activities by the park rangers are underway – says the Ticino Park – and there are also volunteers from the forest firefighting sector in action, as always available with promptness and availability. Once the situation has been defined and the interventions, we will provide updates on the safe practicability of the currently blocked paths. In the meantime, we recommend everyone to be extremely careful in the woods”. Friday’s record hailstorm also caused a large tree to fall on the roadway, causing traffic to be interrupted along the former state road 596 in the Gropello Cairoli area.

Meanwhile, Vigevano will soon have access to part of the compensation expected for the wave of bad weather in the summer of 2023: priority for cemeteries, schools and the open roof of the PalaElachem, which in recent months has had to deal with frequent infiltrations.
