LAZIO REGION, THE MONITORING COMMITTEE OF THE LAZIO FESR PROGRAM 2021-2027
The state of the art of regional programming was presented in Viterbo:
over 1 billion and 800 million in resources for local development
25 June 2024 – The Supervisory Committee of the Lazio 2021-2027 ERDF Regional Program met today in Viterbo, in the Sala Regia of the Palazzo dei Priori in Piazza del Plebiscito 14.
The works were opened by institutional greetings from Roberta Angelilli, vice-president and councilor for Economic Development, Commerce, Crafts, Industry, Internationalization of the Lazio Region; Chiara Frontini, mayor of the Municipality of Viterbo and Francesca Raimondi, representative of the European Commission, Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy.
The meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the Regional Programme, but also to discuss the content and procedures for modifying the Lazio PR necessary to seize the opportunities linked to the establishment of STEP, (Platform of strategic technologies for ‘Europe) which aims to promote strategic technologies (digital, zero emissions, biotech) as well as strengthen innovative capabilities.
The ERDF Lazio 2021-2027 program allocates over 1.817 billion euros to consolidate regional economic and social cohesion, of which over 545 million resources have already been allocated to interventions in favor of the economic system – such as, for example, measures for access to credit, grants to businesses – and to local development.
In particular, the Committee focused on the opportunities generated by Priority 1 which, with a budget of 964 million, has already allocated 302 million to facilitation tools for businesses.
Just like Priority 5, dedicated to territorial development which of the 140 million allocated, has already allocated 85 for the development of medium urban areas (Frosinone, Latina, Rieti and Viterbo) and Rome Capital (Ostia and Pietralata).
Among the topics on the agenda of the Committee, chaired by the Managing Authority of the ERDF PR Tiziana Petucci, the state of progress of the simplification and strengthening of administrative capacity actions carried out by the Lazio Region was also provided, also taken as an example by other Italian and European Administrations.
The Municipality of Viterbo then illustrated the state of implementation of its Territorial Strategy, as a case study to be proposed as good practice.
At the end of the works, a visit organized by the Municipality of Viterbo was carried out to illustrate the sites that fall within the Territorial Strategy for the local development of the capital of Viterbo: Civic Tower, Zaffera, Ex Tribunal, Almadiani, Pensilina, Lazzaretto, Teatro Genio. The resources allocated by the Lazio European Social Fund Program 2021-2027 for interventions to promote social inclusion and employability will also be added to these initiatives.
