Funds for the hydrogen valleys in the Marche are growing: 3 projects financed with over 36 million euros

“Three hydrogen valleys will be built in the Marche region, three green hydrogen production sites from renewable sources in three disused industrial areas, and this thanks to the additional resources allocated by the latest decrees of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and the Ministri of the Economy and Finance (MEF) which are added to the 13.5 million already granted following the issuing of the March 2023 tender, for which the Region will have 36.2 million euros available”.

The news was communicated by the Regional Councilor for Energy Andrea Maria Antonini during a press conference which took place at Palazzo Raffaello (Ancona) with the participation of the Councilor for Transport Goffredo Brandoni and representatives of the companies whose projects will be financed (Tonino Tonti for Esdigis 4U, Giovanni Gasparini for RTI Renco Spa (leader) and Federico Ferrini for Energie Techfem).
To the 13.5 million PNRR resources assigned in March last year, which would have been sufficient to finance the first project in the ranking and part of the second (Esdigis 4U and RTI Renco), those of the MASE Decree were added for 8.76 million and those of the MEF for a further 14 million.
The three green hydrogen production sites will be located in three disused industrial areas, distributed homogeneously across the regional territory: Hydrogen valley – Marche Nord (Energie Techfem) in the industrial area of Bellocchi di Fano (PU); Hydrogen valley – Central Marche (RTI Renco) in the “ex Montedison” industrial area in the Municipality of Falconara Marittima (AN); Hydrogen valley – Marche Sud (Esdigis 4U) in the “ex CPM” industrial area in the Municipality of Offida (AP).
“The production of green hydrogen will have an important impact not only in decarbonisation, but also on local public transport – underlined councilor Brandoni – a sector hit first by the pandemic and then by the energy crisis with significant increases in fuel costs, and in the shipbuilding sector”.

“The results must be achieved by 30 June 2026: not a simple challenge, which requires great support and capacity from all the actors involved, namely the State, Region, local authorities and businesses” added Antonini.
In this way, the Marche Region contributes to the pursuit of the PNRR target of providing Italy with at least 10 hydrogen production projects with an average capacity of 1 – 5 MW by 30 June 2026, in the context of the broader European hydrogen strategy. hydrogen.
