Savona, all 11 wild boars killed: “Shooting at a short distance and in total safety for citizens”

Savona. In Savona, this morning, 11 wild boars were killed, some of these were spotted in the last few days on the Savona beaches.

In addition to the staff of the Regional Wildlife-Environmental Supervision Unit, the local police of Savona were also present. Six were killed downstream of the Letimbro, another 5 specimens in a cage further upstream, still in the stream.

“The intervention with the six animals killed took place in total safety for the citizens – they explained from the Region -. No one was present where the killings were carried out. The shots were fired at a short distance and with small caliber weapons, which produce limited noise.”

“It is the umpteenth shooting carried out in the province after repeated requests from the mayors of Savona, Alassio, Albisola Superiore, Albissola Mare, Cairo, Sassello – they comment. Instead, we thank the president of the Schiappapietra seaside resort who just yesterday, in declaring that the wild boars disturb his activity, however asked to remove them in a bloodless way, as is done in a civilized country. Not even the appeal to the different female sensitivity, addressed in recent days by OSA to the Savona municipal councilors, achieved results”.

And they conclude: “We ask the mayor, who is so quick to make useless ordinances (such as the ban on feeding wild boars in the city) to make another one just as quickly: ‘It is forbidden to shoot wildlife in the city. It is permitted to remove animals only in a bloodless manner.”
