Marco Bezzecchi could have moved to MotoGP with Aprilia four years ago, reveals Massimo Rivola.

Confirmed yesterday as an Aprilia rider, the truth is that Marco Bezzecchi had long been an “adventure” of Massimo Rivola and his promotion to the higher category could have also happened previously at the hands of the Italian manufacturer, with the revelation made by the transalpine boss.

The CEO of the Noale car manufacturer spoke to SkySport about the rider and, quoted by Motosan, revealed that Bezz’s history with the team could have started earlier: ‘Normally, the directors, who are very competent in the paddock, knock on our door and vice versa. With Marco I am particularly happy because four years ago, when we were without a rider, he was the first to whom I offered the chance to come to MotoGP.’

The number 72 decided, however, to stick to what was agreed with his team, then in the intermediate category, in order to be able to take the next better prepared step:

– He had an agreement with VR46 in Moto2, he knew he would have another with that team and he wanted to arrive in the premier class a little more prepared. Despite the impetus of a rider who always dreams of reaching MotoGP, he made a decision that saddened me, but as a mature rider who is aware of his possibilities. Today I am doubly happy to announce it.

This is Bezzecchi’s third year in MotoGP and 2025 will be the first time he will ride a non-Ducati bike in the category.
