PESCARA. The president of the regional council, Marco Marsilio, chaired the shareholders’ meeting of Fira, the Abruzzo regional finance company, which approved the 2023 financial statements of the in-house company of the Abruzzo Region, with a net profit of over 50 thousand euros. “The Fira balance sheet closed with a surplus of 52 thousand euros – commented Marsilio – and this did not happen in the past. Last year, the combined arrangement of Fira and Abruzzo Sviluppo, before the merger, had in fact recorded over half a million euros in losses. This means that our financial company, thanks also to the merger process that we have carried out, today functions well, receives orders, produces activities and therefore also generates revenue that allows this company to move forward”.
“The next step – he continued – will be to complete the process to transform itself into an intermediate body according to European legislation to better manage the reporting, distribution and disbursement of European funds. Activities which, among other things, Fira, at least in part, already carries out. However, Fira’s good health, also certified by the reports of the board of auditors and auditors, testifies to the good work done”.
“Years ago – underlined Marsilio – we found two financial companies that risked collapse and that were suffering from an identity crisis with overlapping functions and, sometimes, even totally incapable of carrying out any of them. The merger between Fira and Abruzzo Sviluppo – he concluded – has produced a stronger, healthier company, capable of generating profits and carrying out its function at the service of businesses and the Abruzzo economy”. The councilor for production activities, Tiziana Magnacca, also participated in the Fira shareholders’ meeting.
