The commitment of Catholics in politics is the theme of the meeting held on Saturday afternoon at the Dioscuri Hotel in San Leone, promoted by the UDC.
Outside with a temperature that reached 40 degrees in a room packed with over 600 participants, in addition to the host and regional coordinator of the UDC, the Hon. Decio Terrana, the national secretary Hon. Lorenzo Cesa, various Catholic associations and trade unions, the provincial secretary Fabio La Felice, the former parliamentarian Hon. Salvino Caputo, the Mayor of Francofonte Daniele Lentini, the regional head of women, Emilia Di Piazza and the national coordinator of the Youth Gero Palermo.
The Hon. Decio Terrana focused on the commitment of Catholics in Politics. “For some time now, as Decio Terrana said, there has been a call to unite all Catholics under the same symbol, which is precisely the cross-shield of the UDC. Now is the right time, because the parties are experiencing moments of disarray, without identity or deep roots, but only following the thoughts of the leader of the moment. Many have asked to resume intense political activity that can reach and include the various Catholic associations and all those who want to profess the social doctrine of the Church in Politics”.
And the National Secretary Hon. Lorenzo Cesa focused precisely on the lack of solid roots in the various parties. “In Italy – said Cesa we have parties with percentages that vary rapidly, because the current parties lack traditions and roots, which instead are very solid in the UDC. The UDC has always represented moderate politics, in its ways and choices, he inherited the shield and everything it means: history, passion, moderation and social commitment”. The desire for participation and renewed political commitment emerged from the event.
