Agrigento, the Prefect meets a delegation from the Bangladesh embassy

On Monday 24 June, HE Prefect Filippo Romano received the official visit of a delegation from the embassy of the Republic of Bangladesh at the Government Palace.

The Prefect and the consular officials discussed – with a view to encouraging the consolidation of relations between Italy and Bangladesh – on various topics of common interest, highlighting the centrality of the development of forms of bilateral cooperation in the reception and management sector of the migratory phenomenon with particular attention to the requests of the Bangladeshi community present on the territory of the migrants who are within the hotspots located in this province.



The meeting continued at the new one hotspot of Porto Empedocle located in c/da Kaos, where the delegation was accompanied by Dr. Gaetano Miccichè, administrative official, during a visit to the premises of the new first aid, identification and reception facility for migrants.

The diplomatic representation, after a fruitful discussion on issues relating to the procedures relating to the formalization of applications for international protection, expressed strong satisfaction with the health and hygiene conditions of the center and with the organization of its internal activities.



At the end of the visit, which took place in a cordial atmosphere of fruitful collaboration, the embassy officials went to the Port Authority of Porto Empedocle.
