The joy of Mirko Perelli: “Desire for change”

After the proclamation of the new mayor, a barrage of cars blaring their horns breaks out through the streets of the two towns. Mirko Perelli is the new mayor of Tresignana, he prevailed by 104 votes over Laura Perelli, the outgoing mayor: 51.47% against 48.53. This is the verdict of the local elections after the surprising draw in the previous round. An unprecedented playoff not only for Tresignana, necessary after the two Perellis, Mirko candidate supported by the “Tresignana Cambia” list and Laura Perelli supported by the “Tresignana prima tutto” list, had collected the same number of preferences: 1,717. The proclamation, under the eyes of his wife Carla and the deputy mayor in pectore Arrigo Giubelli, was a bit difficult given that two weeks ago the count had initially indicated Mirko Perelli as the winner with only one vote difference and, after the recount, a draw had resulted. “I am very happy – comments Mirko Perelli beaming – a result that testifies to the desire for change. I will do my utmost to try to unite the communities of Tresigallo and Formignana; together with the team we will be available to the citizens. We want to change the conception of politics, we will open brings them to dialogue whenever possible”.

Curiously, the difference of 104 votes corresponds to what Paola Marchi’s civic list had collected, which had left its voters free to choose. “It’s just a coincidence – the new mayor clears away any particular calculations – if anything the ballot has strengthened the electorate’s desire for change; indeed, I am convinced that many have also changed their voting direction”. Maurizio Barbirati, mayor of Tresigallo for two terms and former outgoing deputy mayor, thinks the same way: “Our list got the same votes as two weeks ago, the difference was Mirko Perelli’s skill in intercepting the vote of the undecided, votes which then made the difference.”

Barbirati then launches a proposal: “The hope is that the projects that we began in the last legislature will be completed by the new municipal administration. Above all, we will need to work to find a spirit of harmony. After this vote I fear that the communities will be divided into four instead of in two: two groups (social and political) in Formignana and two in Tresigallo”. The new mayor Mirko Perelli does not let the proposal fall on deaf ears and builds an ideal bridge to unite the two towns divided by a historic spirit of bell tower. “If there are valid projects, we will evaluate them, without prejudice, with the difference that projects that are not yet operational will be subjected to preventive judgment by citizens”.
