“We will work to unite the people”

“They made us win, we convinced them to all come back to vote.” It is an exhausted but satisfied Maurizio Gambini who welcomes the result of the polls in his electoral headquarters, where the entire “Concrete City” coalition had gathered waiting for news from the Town Hall. The party starts early, just before 5pm, when it becomes clear that the overtaking that came an hour earlier will be definitive.

“I thank our entire team – says Gambini –. It was a long electoral campaign, but the citizens, in the run-off, voted clearly to confirm this administration. Our commitment will be for the city, and for the hinterland, because we want to rewrite the history of the province of Urbino and now we can do it. I celebrate, but with a bit of bitterness: beyond the competing candidate (Federico Scaramucci, ed.), who I respect very much, things have happened that I didn’t think could. happen in this city. There was a denigrating electoral campaign against me and also against capable and respectful people who said that we are closed, in reality this victory belongs to all citizens and we will have to do a double job: work and administer, uniting people. We hope to return to uniting Urbino, to be able to govern and work with everyone, not just with one part”.

Precisely on the topic of the provincial capital, a status certified at the beginning of the year after a wait of over a century and a half and a battle waged by various political parties over the years, Gambini also insists during the first post-election interviews: “It is a right that Urbino had and that with the current national and regional governments we have managed to achieve. We want to work together, because this is not a land from which we can continue to take away. Today’s success is the result of the work we have done”. After admitting that he doubted, for a moment, that he could win, “I was almost lost”, the mayor concluded: “The good part is over, now we have to start working”.

During the party, with supporters of the coalition singing chants towards Gambini several times, the electoral headquarters was reached by various personalities from the local and regional centre-right and by various mayors, who came to congratulate Gambini, including regional councilors Stefano Aguzzi and Francesco Baldelli, the Fd’I deputy Antonio Baldelli, the mayors of Sassocorvaro Auditore, Cartoceto and Fano, Daniele Grossi, Enrico Rossi and Luca Serfilippi, the regional councilors Nicola Baiocchi and Giacomo Rossi and, lastly, the president of the Region Francesco Aquariums. “These are important results, which are pleasing for Maurizio and his team – commented Acquaroli –. We have laid the foundations for the redemption of the territory, it is a great satisfaction that the citizens have recognized the work done by Gambini. It was not a easy campaign, but there has been a team effort that has been created in recent years: here there are those who try to build proposals, create and aggregate”.
