Pisa, 25 June 2024 – A tradition returned to the citizens returns, with the presentation ceremony of the new Palio della Vittoriaa solemn moment that anticipates the challenge on Bridge on Saturday 29 June. The Palio was created by the painter Raffaele De Rosa and will be given to the winner of the Game by the Elder Rector, the mayor Michele Conti.
“Win Borea or South, Pisa will always win!”, were the words pronounced by the councilor for the traditions of the history and identity of Pisa, Filippo Bedini, entrusting the Palio della Vittoria to the Palio bearer, Valerio Vene. “For some years we have been trying to raise the level of the artistic offering of the Pali del Gioco, created by important painters – declares Bedini -. This year’s one is the work of the master Raffaele De Rosa, who has already been established on the national scene for decades. Palio was donated by the Municipality to the Standard Bearer of the Palio, representing the Parties. Today is a ceremony that restores one of the main moments that anticipate the Game: the intention is to further improve this preparatory moment in the coming years innovations are being added, with the objective shared by the Parties of making the “Pisa festival” more and more beautiful. Three regulations have been approved which will be introduced this year on an experimental basis. We intend to gradually introduce the new measures, trying to make them definitive clarity on its correct execution on the Lungarni”.
“It was interesting to depict the challenge on the bridge of the Magistrature. I participated in their warlike ardor, waving their banners, shouting their victory and the joy of having excelled” said the artist Raffaele De Rosa in announcing the presentation of the Palio which was greeted by applause from those present. In the meantime, from 11am today it will be possible to purchase tickets for the Gioco del Ponte scheduled for Saturday 29 June. Tickets cost 5 euros and can be purchased online on www.vivaticket.com (with presale commission) or at the Teatro Verdi box office which will be open at the following times: from Tuesday to Saturday 11am-1pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday also 4-7pm. A maximum of 4 tickets can be purchased per person. On Saturday 29 June the day will start at 6pm with the setting up of the picket line; at 7pm the start of the “Mostra delle Parti” on the Lungarni and at 9pm the start of the “Disfida”.
