In recent days, the Police Commissioner of the province of Lecce issued an administrative measure by DACur. (Prohibition of access to urban areas) following the events that occurred on the night between 21 and 22 March in Galatina, which led to the referral of a 37-year-old foreigner to the AG by the officers on duty at the Galatina Police Station .
The man, a 37-year-old CTM of Romanian origin residing in Galatina, in the early hours of March 22nd, near a bar in the center of Galatina, was stopped by the police for attempting to attack the other patrons first with a large woodcutter axe, then with a crowbar by climbing onto the roof of a car parked nearby, sparking a fight. The man was stopped by a security officer of the premises and the officers on duty promptly intervened and, after a careful investigation, referred him to the AG for the crimes of brawling, damage and illegal carrying of weapons or objects designed to offend.
Given the circumstances, considering the social danger of the man, the procedure was started, with all the guarantees of the same, and after the investigations carried out by the Anti-Crime Division of the Lecce Police Headquarters, the Police Commissioner of the province of Lecce issued an administrative measure of the DACur. (Prohibition of access to urban areas) against the foreigner who prohibits him or her from accessing the identified urban areas, for a period of two years, in order to reduce as much as possible the risk of serious disorders and situations detrimental to public safety by implementing a more effective prevention action against those phenomena of widespread crime and illegality which affect citizens’ need for safety.
