On the occasion of this summer which records the presence of visitors and tourists, the Archbishop Msgr. Leonardo D’Ascenzo wished to address them with a message being disseminated on the various communication channels (also in English). Here is the full text:
«Dear and dearest,
As Pastor of this Church I address a cordial and affectionate greeting to all of you and, together with the diocesan community, I wish you to spend days of rest to restore your body and spirit.
The cities of our Archdiocese, Trani, Barletta, Bisceglie, Corato, Margherita di Savoia, Trinitapoli and San Ferdinando di Puglia, are in a varied way a treasure chest of scenic beauty and an artistic and cultural heritage which is a narration of the history of our ecclesial community and civil. Our coasts and the hinterland constitute that naturalistic asset which is a source of wonder but also a continuous revelation of the divine (see Laudato si’, 85).
The Romanesque cathedrals, churches, monasteries, museums that I invite you to visit and above all the Christian community that you will meet during the Sunday Eucharistic celebrations, the patronal feasts and the many solidarity works scattered throughout the Diocese, will allow you to share the liveliness of a Church on a synodal journey certainly in need of conversion but also prophetic, committed to giving reasons for its hope (see 1Pt3.IS).
I hope that the meeting with our Community, in these days of holidays, can, as in the experience of the disciples of Emmaus (see Luke 24.13-35), revive hope and lead you back to a new ecclesial experience. I assure you of my prayers and bless you.”
