“the strength of Inclusion”, World Refugee Day concluded in Marsala – LaTr3.it

“The strength of Inclusion” was the theme of the talk promoted by the Badia Grande social cooperative which concluded the celebrations for World Refugee Day 2024. The meeting took place on Saturday afternoon at the Cantina Chitarra in Marsala and saw the guests debate the current EU migration policies, the reception network, illustrating the work carried out to support the most fragile subjects, with an eye towards sexual and labor exploitation. Speakers: Pietro Bartolo, unforgettable doctor from Lampedusa, Domenico Venuti, president of the Local Administrators Association, Jessica Restivo, psychologist, and Stefania Lo Coco, professional educator of the Maddalena Project – National Anti-Trafficking Body, and Valentina Villabuona, legal operator of the SAI projects managed from the Badia Grande social cooperative. Also on stage are the life testimonies of Albert Kalenda Kabongo, cultural mediator and president of the “Africa Solidarity Beyond the Mediterranean” Association, and of a beneficiary of the SAI Marsala of Libyan origin. The talk was moderated by journalist Ninni Cannizzo. The event was attended by Giusy Piccione, councilor for social policies of the Municipality of Marsala, Fabrizio Fonte, mayor of Custonaci, Vito Scalisi, mayor of Salemi and Daniele Amorosino representing Confcooperative Trapani. In the second part, DJ set with Zak Radio and the performance of the male and female dancers of the International Dance Academy ASD of Francesca Colomba – Custonaci. The dancing show also involved a group of unaccompanied foreign minors who performed to the tune of Mama Africa. The evening continued with the music of the band “Irrequieti”.
