For a handful of women and land Five actresses (plus one) lend body and voice to as many testimonies of real life, recounting the radical transformation of society that developed starting from the agrarian reform process in our country. The collection work of a passionate writer like Luciana Bellini has brought to us, with an ancient language, but at the same time simple, fresh and immediate, the voices of many women who have experienced that transformation first hand. To us who are increasingly experiencing the continuous changes of a society that is moving towards a Tomorrow uncertain and unknown, these women speak. And with their stories they have a lot to say about our fears, our passions, our courage, our love for life.

First appointment with national companies Tomorrow evening, Tuesday 25 June, 9.15pm, Courtyard of the Podestà, with “A camellia for two” starring Selene Gandini and Marta Nuti.

A camellia for two During the show the two protagonists give life to two iconic characters of 20th century theatre: Sarah Bernhardt and Eleonora Duse. In a suspended time and place, two women, two artists, two worlds that touch each other, seek each other, reject each other and live their relationship through letters and imaginary confessions. The theater saw them born and led them to establish themselves as internationally renowned actresses, but one character above all is disputed by the two divas and that of Marguerite Gautier in “The Lady of the Camellias”, written by Alexandre Dumas fils and brought to scene by both, enjoying great success. This character will accompany us during the show, while the two actresses go over their lines, look in the mirror, experience an ideal dressing room before their debut, slowly transforming into something else. The camellia, so angelic and at the same time so passionate, becomes the flower that the two actresses wear as they tell their story to the spectator, revealing their own fragility, as well as the courage and strength in asserting themselves as protagonists of a historical era in which it was not allowed women to have power. The direction is by Selene Gandini with the assistance of Matteo Fiori; sets by Filippo Marai and costumes by Roberto Piffer.

In case of rain the shows will be held at the Teatro dei Rinnovati. Entrance is free. All information on the Siena Theaters website www.teatridisiena.it .
