Civita Castellana – The European Parliament is not as far away as it seems, and having a representative from Tuscia among the benches could be an opportunity to help the province’s economy take off. Luca Giampieri talks about the victory in the European elections of Antonella Sberna, with whom he shares political faith and a long-standing friendship.

The election of Antonella Sberna is a historic achievement for Tuscia. For our territory, what do you think is the sector we can work on together?
“Even if it is perceived as an institution distant from the people and the daily needs of the community, the decisions of the European Parliament have a strong impact on institutional, social, cultural activities and, with respect to our territory, above all on productive activities. And consequently on employment. So without any doubt the sectors where it will be possible to work side by side with the Honorable Sberna will be the industrial sector, the artisan sector and the agricultural sector”.
Is yours a long-standing friendship? Do you have any particular memories of your political journey together?
“I have known Antonella Sberna for over 20 years, we grew up together politically in the party’s youth movement, me as president and she as coordinator, sharing a lot of militancy and kilometers on the streets of our province. The best anecdotes are linked to the moments spent with many centre-right young people who at the time were taking their first steps in politics and today are fellow mayors or representatives of institutions at various levels”.
How much can a representative from Viterbo weigh in Europe? And how important can it be for the ceramic district?
“As mentioned, a representative of the territory in Europe can influence key decisions that have repercussions from the EU on our nation, our region and our province. Therefore, being able to have the complete institutional supply chain at our disposal today, with so many representatives of the Brothers of Italy coming from Tuscia, I believe is an opportunity that has never occurred before and which is unlikely to be repeated in the future. Therefore, this is an opportunity that absolutely should not be wasted to finally get our province off the ground in all sectors, with a particular interest in the industrial district of Civita Castellana. In this sense, dialogue with the employer representatives already met during the election campaign will also be vital, in order to finally protect and relaunch local sanitary ceramics”.
Fratelli d’Italia obtained the highest percentage of support in Viterbo compared to the other provinces of Italy. A good result but also a great responsibility. In a year there will be municipal elections in Civita Castellana, how do you see it?
These results are not achieved by chance, we started from scratch ten years ago at a national level and I personally as a simple opposition municipal councilor. Behind such approval from citizens there is a lot of coherence, militancy, work and sacrifice in the service of people’s needs. Seeing these results not only confirmed but continually growing at every electoral deadline is a source of great pride for us at FDI. But it is also the ability to take on responsibilities, especially for those like me who have the pleasure and honor of managing an important town like Civita Castellana. The truth is that for us there is no difference between everyday life and the electoral period, which in our political vision must only be the confirmation of the good work done during everyday activities in the area. As I have said several times, I don’t have a crystal ball and together with my council we get up every morning to work hard, belly on the ground, to leave our Civita Castellana in a better condition at the end of our mandate than we have it. found. As? By implementing the program that we presented to the citizens in 2020, who trusted us with a strong mandate and a clear victory obtained even in the first round”.
