Sea Angels save boy in danger in Pescara

On Sunday 23 June, in the waters of the famous Les Paillotes bathing establishment, in Pescara South, a boy in difficulty was rescued, thanks to the intervention of two lifeguards from the FISA Sea Angels.

Mattia Serra, lifeguard: “It was around 6.50 pm when from my position I noticed a boy who, in the water, was swimming away from the shore. I immediately get down from the station to call him back given the weather conditions that are not favorable for bathing. At the height of the rocks the young bather contracts a series of cramps that prevent him from moving. The swimmer calls my attention by waving frantically, I swim to him and, thanks to the 3 standard whistles, I also call the attention of the second lifeguard Daniele Ardone who promptly takes the lifeboat and joins me in the water as per protocol. I get ready on the fly with the unsafe vessel and with the rinsing technique I load it onto the rescue vehicle. I manage to free the leg affected by the violent contractions of the cramps and once we reach shore we save him and dry him off.”

Marco Schiavone, president of Angeli del Mare Fisa: “As Angels of the Sea we have started this precious collaboration with FISA (Italian Federation of Aquatic Rescue) which allows us to train young rescuers with a very high level of professionalism. We also ask our collaborators to put passion and heart into it. The sea is beautiful, but it is also continually a possible threat to swimmers, especially the elderly and children. Our rescuers are trained not only in lifesaving, swimming and first aid techniques. But above all to prevent or rather observe and try to inform swimmers about the possible dangers of the sea, always in close collaboration with all the Port Authorities who we thank for their active support for human protection. Together with Carmen Padalino, my partner, we thank the President of FISA Raffaele Perrotta for the preparation of the FISA Aquatic Rescuers and for their professionalism.”
