CERNUSCO (Lecco)

First he rushed at full speed into a 41-year-old volunteer from the National Carabinieri Association of Trezzo d’Adda, who was carrying out law enforcement during the Monza – Resegone in Cernusco Lombardone, then he mowed down a 51-year-old cyclist. In both cases he didn’t stop. The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile unit on emergency patrol managed to intercept him and stop him a couple of kilometers further on, in Merate, before he hit someone else. It happened the other night. The hit-and-run driver, who was driving an Audi A3, is Alan Sabadini, a 43-year-old from Torre de’ Busi.

He had an alcohol level 4 times the maximum limit: he was so drunk that he didn’t realize he had almost killed two people and that he couldn’t even stay awake; after being stopped, he fell asleep. The officers of the local Cernusco police reported him on the loose for failure to provide assistance and driving while intoxicated, they withdrew his license and seized his car. The volunteer of the National Carabinieri Association of Trezzo was rescued by the medical workers of the Areu air ambulance. “She hit her head-on – this is the witness’s account. She threw her onto the bonnet and against the windshield which broke and threw her about twenty meters away”. She suffered head trauma and other injuries. She was urgently airlifted to the Circolo di Varese hospital. Her condition is serious, but her life is not in danger. The cyclist, however, was taken to the Alessandro Manzoni in Lecco and he too is out of danger.
