ANCONA They loaded their bicycles onto the train, got off at the Ancona station and hung out in the Archi area with the intention of committing thefts and robberies. But if they were looking for trouble, they found it, so much so that they were arrested in flagrante delicto. Two separate incidents were committed yesterday morning in two areas of the city, different, but still just 4-5 minutes away on foot from each other. In both cases it involved robberies and if in the second case, which occurred in via Marconi, two of the three perpetrators were immediately stopped, in the first – which occurred in front of Porta Pia – the criminals escaped. But the cameras will tell if they are the same ones.

The dynamics

The chronology of events starts from the port area, where a 76-year-old man was calmly sitting on a bench in front of Porta Pia. It was around 11am when suddenly a bandit attacked him from behind, planting a knee in his back. With that sudden gesture, he stole his purse containing personal effects and his wallet with 80 euros. The elderly man, in shock, called 112 on his cell phone, causing the state police cars to intervene. The officers requested the intervention of the Yellow Cross of Ancona to provide first aid to the elderly man, who was scared and bruised, but who then refused to be transported to hospital. Shortly afterwards another robbery was carried out in via Marconi, in the Archi district, a few hundred meters away. The victim is a middle-aged Bulgarian truck driver, who was resting sitting on a sidewalk. He was approached by three young people, all North African, who attempted to distract him with an excuse: “we have this bicycle to sell…”, a few words and then, treacherously, sprayed him with pepper spray. And while the poor guy raised his hands to his face because of the infernal burning in his eyes, the three thugs tore off the gold necklace that was sticking out of his shirt and which had immediately made them jealous. They immediately fled on the same bicycle that they had offered him to buy shortly before.

Hunting

But in the meantime the area was scoured by police cars looking for the thief from Porta Pia: they managed to block one in Corso Carlo Alberto. Another was caught shortly afterwards, at the train station, by Polfer personnel while he was trying to board a train. These are two young North Africans, one an adult and one a minor, residing outside the region. They were accompanied to the police station for identification. Despite their very young age, they already have precedents for crimes against the person and against property. After investigations, they were arrested. The minor of the gang was taken to a First Reception Center (Cpa) for minors, while the adult was accompanied to the Montacuto prison to await validation. The third is missing, but viewing the cameras will be fundamental both to identify him and to establish whether the three are responsible for both robberies. Suspicions lead one to think that the authors are the same. The Bulgarian truck driver was rescued by 118 medics and transported to the Torrette emergency room.
