Feast of San Giovanni in Turin, red and green LEDs instead of the barriers in Piazza Vittorio

The aspiration and ambition is to one day arrive at a street performance without barriers or other physical barriers to contain the public in the dedicated spaces: on an experimental basis, one of the exedras in Piazza Vittorio, on Monday 24 June for the fires of San Giovanni, will in fact be delimited by red LEDs (which will be forbidden to cross) and green LEDs at the crossing points. The idea comes from engineer Giuseppe Amaro’s GAe engineering, who will also take care of the safety of the event this year.

The system had already been tested last year, but with the help of tendiflexthe columns with the ribbon, but this time there will only be LEDs and some steward to explain and guide the public: in a 1630 square meter exedra, which can accommodate approximately 2,500 people. It goes without saying, a certain amount will be increasingly necessary civic consciousness of people — and, therefore, the choice will also depend on the type of event — but the advantages, in terms of safety and costs, could be considerable.

Another innovation, a 3D model on the control room screens, in which the turnout data and queues at the 14 gates will be visible and processed, to be cross-referenced with the vision of the surveillance cameras. M. Ner.
