Summer Park Desenzano turns fifty! The lights and rides of the largest summer traveling park in Lombardy are turned on again, this year with a very special anniversary: from 5 July to 25 August, the historic amusement park will be in Desenzano del Garda, with events and themed evenings for everyone , also in Monte Mario, near the motorway toll booth.
Summer Park
The fifty candles will be blown out at the birthday party on July 18th, but the program promises almost two months of events. Since the summer of 1974, the amusement park has been a permanent fixture in Lower Garda. Over the years it has expanded and renovated, with ever-changing attractions, and today it presents itself as an amusement park of around 20 thousand m2, capable of involving everyone, children, families, young people and local associations. This year too, guests will be welcomed by the mascot, Benny the Bear, a “giant plush toy”, ready to promote healthy fun together with the organizers in a welcoming, safe and inclusive space.
«This year we want it to be a memorable edition, for our 50 years of activity in Desenzano – comments Marco Piccaluga, of the Summer Park management – In addition to the usual inauguration on July 5th, there will be a big birthday party on the 18th July, and then we created many events with the intention of surprising and truly involving everyone, adults and children.”
The organizational machine sees around 40 families at work, who welcome thousands of people to the park’s attractions for almost two months. The management has always been committed to ensuring safety within the area, until late in the evening, especially on the busiest days, with the support of private security guards, so that everyone can enter and have fun without worries.
The bumper cars, the kick ass, the arcade and the newest and most adrenaline-filled attractions will be back in action from 8pm on Friday 5 July, in Monte Mario 2, in front of McDonald’s. At the inauguration, after the ribbon cutting with the local authorities, a 50 euro discount will be distributed to the first thousand visitors who enter the park, with tickets that can be used for the entire period.
Piccaluga family
For a couple of editions, Marco has taken up the baton of his uncle Lorenzo, from whom he learned passion and teachings: «I have breathed the air of the amusement park since I was a child. My uncle Lorenzo passed on a lot of his experience to me and now I want Summer Park Desenzano to grow a little more every year, with new attractions and events that give maximum attention to social issues. We are grateful to the municipal administration for its collaboration and support, which has never been lacking over time.”
Even the structural improvements have made it possible to break down every barrier and the objective remains high: «We want to be everyone’s amusement park – remarks Marco Piccaluga – and to do this we make use of the collaboration of local associations, we are active on social channels and for the birthday party on July 18th we will have a special promotion: a controlled price of 20 euros (instead of 70) to access all the park’s rides. It is the first traveling park to offer this solution to allow everyone, especially families, to fully enjoy the Summer Park for an evening. Furthermore, new this summer are the rotating nacelles, a carousel that comes from Australia and reaches a height of 20 metres, leading the guest to rotate with the nacelle, upside down”.
Municipal administration
The mayor of Desenzano del Garda Guido Mal winter declares: «Welcome back to Summer Park and to the tradition successfully carried on by the Piccaluga family. For us, the arrival of this period of the year represents a moment of celebration and we are always happy to host the attractions and entertainment, which are renewed at each edition while maintaining the high quality level of the event. The Summer Park Desenzano is a guarantee of excellence, fun and safety for all citizens. The development of themed days, such as the one dedicated to the fight against violence against women or the one in collaboration with Anffas, are instead a testimony of humanity that makes this event even more special and inclusive”.
Tourism councilor Stefania Lorenzoni states: «A proposal like that of the Summer Park expands the high number of events we offer in the area, completing a picture that is suitable for everyone, from families to tourists, from young people to residents: they will all be involved in the weeks of fun and celebration offered by Summer Park and I can’t wait to enjoy them together with all the citizens.”
Events
There are many events at the Summer Park Desenzano, scheduled from 5 July to 25 August:
Friday 5 July: OPENING with official ribbon cutting at 8pm, in the presence of local and Lombard authorities, and delivery of a €50 discount for the first thousand visitors, with tickets usable for the entire period of the amusement park.
Wednesday 10 July: SPECIAL CHILDREN’S DAY, morning dedicated to disabled people, who will have a total discount on all rides. From 10am to 12pm, free rides for disabled people, in collaboration with the Anffas associations throughout the province of Brescia.
Friday 12 July: RADIO STUDIO PIÙ SUMMER PARTY, evening of music and party for everyone, with entertainment from Radio Studio Più.
Thursday 18 July: SUMMER PARK B-DAY – 50TH BIRTHDAY. Big birthday party at Summer Park, with a super promotion: €20 for all the park’s rides, instead of €70. It is the first traveling park that offers this solution to allow everyone, especially families, to enjoy participating in the Summer Park B-DAY!
Thursday 25 July: WOMEN’S EVENING with special discount for the first 200 women to arrive at Luna Park. At the entrance, you will be given a discount booklet to use during the evening and there will also be stands where you can learn about and make a contribution to the activities of local associations close to women, Centro Aiuto Vita and Casa Gratitudine.
Thursday 1st August: SUPER HEROES EVENING, a special evening dedicated to the most famous super heroes: Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Catwoman, Harley Queen… with dance shows and entertainment for young people and families, who can be photographed together with their favorite superheroes.
Friday 9 August: RADIO STUDIO PIÙ SUMMER PARTY, evening of music and party for everyone, with entertainment from Radio Studio Più.
