Belgium, De Bruyne MVP with Romania: “Deserved victory, great performance from Lukaku”

Kevin De Bruyneelected MVP of the match between Belgium and Romania, commented as follows – as reported by Uefa.com – his team’s 2-0 success: “After the first match I wasn’t worried. I don’t think we played badly per se. Obviously we made mistakes but we created chances, even if we could have done more. We played well during the match and I think we deserved the win, so I’m happy.”

On his goal, which closed the game: “We had a couple of goal kicks in training. We were under a bit of pressure and I had seen the shots go into space, so I just had to make that touch in front of their goalkeeper.”

On Lukaku: “Romelu played a great game today. He’s very selfless, as you saw when he set up Youri, but for me he’s playing a great tournament.”

In closing: “We have passion, we have energy. If we could have more ball possession it would be better, but I will put everything in. The important thing is to create opportunities and those situations. Yes, we could close the actions a little better, but the important thing is that we are creating them.”
