Truth and justice for Emanuela Orlandi. The sit-in launched by Pietro Orlandi, Emanuela’s brother, took place in Piazza Cavour in Rome on the anniversary of the disappearance of his sister, whose traces were lost on 22 June 1983. «The truth is light and no one we will remain invisible”, is the writing on the sheets displayed by several demonstrators. In the middle of the square there was a long banner with Emanuela’s photo while other signs showed the famous photo of the girl with the band on her hair and the writing: «Did she disappear at the hands of the Magliana gang? This is just one of the many hypotheses on the Orlandi case – We will never stop searching for the truth.” Some protesters wore T-shirts with the girl’s photo and the writing: “she IS alive because we continue to love her.” Among those present were also those wearing t-shirts with photos of both Emanuela and Mirella Gregori, the same age as her who passed away the month before her, also in Rome, asking to shed light on both cases.

Pietro Orlandi spoke to the public and the press during the demonstration: «Now there is the parliamentary commission of inquiry in addition to the investigations of the Vatican and the Rome prosecutor’s office. And even if many tell me not to trust, I have to trust and I am very confident in this Commission. They assured me that they will listen to all the people I asked to be heard and the magistrates including Capaldo will be heard. I have faith in the Commission of Inquiry because I realized that there has been a change, even though the Vatican clearly said that it did not want it, this Commission was voted on, it became law and it left.
