BUSTO ARSIZIO – There are those who closed the shop directly and those who started to post images of the deserted center on social media and in chatsbut also those who don’t know how to get the customers who have booked a party in their business along the route and those who, among the groceries, will have to throw away the perishable products left unsold. The closure of roads around the historic center for the Tre Valli Varesine Handbike has infuriated many of the traders who have their activities within the ring traveled by the Paralympic athletes. A show that however paralyzed the city center: «They say that this event should attract people, but Busto is deserted» the protest.
Rain of criticism
«Nothing to reproach the handbike athletes, who are to be admired, but the problem is who decided to authorize such a demonstration on a Saturday afternoon in the center of Busto Arsizio” says a shopkeeper from the centre, resigned to seeing the deserted shop in one of the streets closed due to the rush. «Why not organize the race on Sunday?». The Whatsapp chats of Busto traders have been hot since late morning today, June 22nd. The administration’s choice to “block the center on the only sunny Saturday” is one of the criticisms. «Our customers? Today they will all be in Legnano, in Gallarate or in shopping centers.”
The thorniest cases
The problems started already in the late morning. For example, they have arrived in Piazza Trento and Trieste local police officers to fine and tow away the cars parked, probably by people unaware of the prohibitions. One of the most critical points was via Isonzo, which has become the alternative to via Volta since middayclosed for the starting village of the Tre Valli: too bad it is one of those roads where, with cars parked, in fact no more than one and a half vehicles pass through it at a timewith the consequence that traveling along it to via Quintino Sella was a challenge.
