The Trentino summer offers a journey into the past to discover the oldest historical places in the region, with activities proposed by the Educational Services of the Archaeological Heritage Office of the UMSt Superintendency for Provincial Cultural Heritage and Activities.

From June to Septemberover 100 events including workshops, guided tours, archaeotrekking, shows and exhibitions enliven the archaeological sites of Trento and its surroundings, involving enthusiasts and curious people of all ages.

Roman Trento: from the SASS to the Villa of Orpheus

Tridentum, the Roman city founded in the 1st century BC, lives again in the historic center of Trento with the Sas Underground Archaeological Space and the Villa of Orpheus. Among the summer initiatives: Exhibition “From the earth to the future” at SASS, on the history of the Edmund Mach Foundation; Guided tours from SASS to Orpheus’ Villa; Workshops for children and families: readings and creative activities; Thematic events: “At the table with the ancient Romans” and “Games and pastimes of the children of Tridentum”.

Rhaetian Museum and the history of the Val di Non

At the Rhaetian Museum of Sanzeno the ancient history of the Val di Non is explored: Thematic workshops: clay working, flint chipping, bronze casting, weaving; Theater show: TeatroE and Nicola Sordo; Archaeotrekking: walks with archeology and nature experts; Guided tours and tastings linked to the cultivation of vines and wine production in ancient times.

Stilt houses of Fiavé: a village between land and water

The Archeo Natura Park and the Pile Dwelling Museum offer: Weekly activities: ceramic workshops, plant processing, dairy and textile production; Demonstrative archaeology: flint knapping, bronze working, ceramics and weaving; Special events: theater shows, open-air cinema, and tastings of typical products.

Cold Water: a prehistoric foundry

In the Acqua Fredda site, between the Mòcheni Valley and the Piné plateau: Theater show for children; Experimental archeology laboratories: prehistoric metallurgy; Cultural excursions: guided tours and walks in the countryside.

Other archaeological areas

Among other archaeological areas: Montesei di Serso: archaeological walks; Mòcheni Valley: archaeotrekking through woods and pastures; Monte San Martino at Campi di Riva: guided tours and tastings of local products, musical events.
