The approximately 1100 tickets to attend the Athletics Championships? Volatilised in a single day. There was no doubt that it was the sporting event of the year, the one on 29 and 30 June at Montagna, and the response from the public was not long in coming. Meanwhile, the Municipality informs that people with motor disabilities and their companion will be able to access the camp free of charge, passing through the entrance in Via dei Pioppi where they will find the staff responsible for welcoming the public.
Please note that the competitions will begin on Saturday at 10.15am with the 110 hurdles and the 100 metres, the finals of which will be held at 9pm. The triple jump competition will take place at 7.50pm, named in memory of Norberto Capiferri, one of the fathers of La Spezia athletics. Shot put and javelin will also be held in the afternoon and the 5,000 meters in the evening. Sunday will open at 8.30 with the 10 km walk that will take place along the city streets starting from via Chiodo. The javelin, discus and long jump competitions will follow. It will be a ‘two day’ experience to be fully experienced, given that a village will be set up inside the Montagna where there will be stands and refreshment points (with typical local products). The public will enter from Viale Fieschi, while professionals, athletes and people with disabilities (there will also be some dedicated car parks) from the entrance on Via dei Pioppi. After the tasty previews of the last few days, beyond the objectives, we remember that there will be two people from La Spezia competing and defending the colors of Atletica Spezia Duferco (the company that promoted the championships): Ianko Lattarulo, born in 2000, with the tenth time seasonal (21”19) will run in the 200 meters where he will have to compete, in particular (among the 26 in contention), with Filippo Tortu and Eseosa Fastine Desalu; and Elena Irbetti, sixteen year old with the fifteenth time (2’07”35) in the 800 meters (17 of them compete), where she is undoubtedly the smallest and who dominate are Eloisa Coiro and Elena Bellò, of the Fiamme Azzurre.
