The Apulian Prefects, the General Prosecutors and the Regional Prosecutors, the representatives of the Puglia Region Health Department and the Forensic Medicine Institutes and services participated in the signing. Delegate Piero Paparella, member of the Steering Committee, was present for Anci Puglia.

Signed today in the Hall of Mirrors of the Bari Prefecture, in the presence of the Government Extraordinary Commissioner for missing persons, Prefect Maria Luisa Pellizzaria Memorandum of understanding aimed at adopting and sharing specific procedures for the identification of nameless corpses. The agreement, already being tested in Lazio and Lombardy, also aims to simplify and speed up the authorization process for comparing the DNA of unidentified bodies with that of relatives of missing persons. The new procedures will also be used to improve and further increase the use of the current DNA Database, thus contributing to informing and raising awareness among public opinion and sector operators of its fundamental importance.

The Prefect of Bari Francesco Russo which has carried out important territorial connection work with the other provinces, underlined: “The sensitivity of the signatory institutions is one of the most important aspects of this protocol”.
