The Local Health Authority reschedules services for July 1st, the day of the Tour de France

To allow the Tour de France to take place on July 1st, the Municipality of Piacenza is planning changes to the roads and public transport involving the capital city. For this reason, the healthcare activities scheduled on that day in the various company offices have been remodeled with the aim of guaranteeing urgent and non-deferrable services and anticipating or postponing scheduled visits and tests, so as not to create inconvenience for users.

The following is therefore expected on Monday 1 July: the closure of all sampling points for blood tests in the city and province. The measure is applied throughout the territory: the changes to the city’s road system do not in fact allow us to guarantee the delivery of the samples within the time required for correct processing. The analysis laboratory ensures all urgent and non-deferrable tests for active health services.

The suspension of all outpatient activities provided at the Piacenza hospital, in the Community House in Piazzale Milano and in all other locations in the city. Health professionals are finishing contacting people who had appointments for that day to reschedule visits and tests. Even the services under the agreed regime provided in accredited private offices will be reorganized by calling the interested parties directly.

Admissions to hospital for operations and procedures scheduled for Monday are brought forward to Sunday. Each patient will receive information from the relevant department. In fact, the already scheduled surgical activity is guaranteed.

The remodulation of direct distribution. The hospital office is closed in the morning and reopens in the afternoon, from 2.30 pm to 6 pm. The office in Piazzale Milano, in Piacenza, is closed. The offices of Castel San Giovanni, Fiorenzuola d’Arda and Monticelli remain open as normal on that day.

The bringing forward of dialysis sessions from Monday to Sunday or rescheduling them in Castel San Giovanni and Fiorenzuola. The reprogramming of home nursing activities, including palliative care. Only non-deferrable access will be guaranteed, as occurs during public holidays.

The Piacenza mortuary is closed from 7am to 2pm.

Technical activities related to safety and administrative activities to support healthcare activities carried out during the day are also guaranteed in all locations.

An increase in the staff on duty in the Emergency Room and in the Assistance and Urgency Center (Cau) is also expected starting from Saturday 29 June, in consideration of the probable influx of tourists that should characterize the entire weekend preceding the event.

No suspension of services is foreseen for the Castel San Giovanni hospital, except for blood sampling. However, those who have an appointment for that day are advised to check whether the route to the hospital is affected by closures and to take into account the extended travel times to reach the services in time to provide scheduled visits and tests.

Last but not least, the 118 territorial emergency system, which is working in close collaboration with other territorial institutions, is completing the drafting of a specific intervention plan which envisages increasing the resources present in the territory (vehicles, professionals and volunteers) from Saturday 29 June to Monday 1 July. The prospectus of the enhancement will be the subject of a specific communication in the coming days.
