The city council decided to award the honor to the local historian. In 2025 the municipality will develop a major project based on his writings

VITERBO – Unanimous approval for the meritorious citizenship of the historian Noris Angeli, who throughout his life has been committed to collecting documents and producing writings linked to the history of Viterbo and its families.

“Local historians like Noris Angeli – underlined the Councilor for Culture Alfonso Antoniozzi – have the task of discovering and making us rediscover history, sometimes bringing to light things that we all ignored about our roots. In our specific case, the volumes he published during his life such as ‘Viterbo and its towers’ and ‘Famiglie Viterbo’ are already an important corpus in themselves, already acquired by universities as study material. Noris Angeli’s work was chosen by these institutes because it represents an important archival and bibliographic work”.

The next two books by Angeli will also be very important, as revealed in the city council by councilor Antoniozzi.

“Your next two publications – continued the councilor – will talk about the coats of arms of the noble families of Viterbo and the census of all the noble palaces in the city. A work of great importance on which, in 2025, the culture department wants to build a project that tells this great story to all the people of Viterbo”.

“The awarding of meritorious citizenship to this man – concluded the deputy mayor – who has spent his entire life describing our city with historical, scientific and archival foundations, I believe is a necessary act”.
