The beaches equipped for the disabled in Sassari.
The Municipality of Sassari has activated the assistance service for people with disabilities in coasts of PlatamonaFiume Santo, Porto Ferro, Argentiera and Porto Palmas, which allows those with mobility difficulties to take advantage of an equipped area and equipment available for assisted bathing.
The service, managed by Vosma Social Cooperative Societyis active until September 30th every day from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 6pm with the exception of Platamona beach where the service is carried out with continuous hours from 9am to 6pm.
The equipped area allows bathers and swimmers to move across wide wooden walkways, functional for the transit of prams, strollers and pedestrians and connected to the arrival and parking areas for people with disabilities. There are also the residence pitches equipped with umbrellas, courtesy chair and support balustrade, on the beaches of Platamona with 16 stations, three in Porto Ferro, two in Fiume Santo, in Argentiera and in Port Palmas.
The presence of. will be guaranteed during the service qualified operators who will provide the necessary assistance to people with disabilities, as well as the availability of equipment (such as Job Chair or similar) for allow bathing.
Furthermore the July 1st the “Blue Flag” season will be inaugurated for the Sassari beaches of Platamona, Porto Ferro and Porto Palmas, to which the Fee (Foundation for Environmental Education) has recognized the international award dedicated to seaside tourist resorts whose management is carried out according to specific sustainability criteria. Until August 31st, all services that must satisfy the suitability requirements of the Blue Flag will be active: starting from the quality of the water, for which a periodic sampling (only beaches with water classified as “excellent” in the last four years can aspire to the assignment), to continue with the efficiency of wastewater purification and sewerage network, passing through the conservation and biodiversity of marine ecosystems and beach cleaning, separate waste collection and adequate management of hazardous waste. Particular attention is paid to safety of peoplewith rescue services and signaling of safe water limits, accessibility for all, the presence of a water point and Toilet.
Finally, there must be ample space dedicated to environmental educationaimed in particular at schools and young people, tourists and residents: the Environmental Education Center (Ceas) Lago Baratz will carry out activities and workshops both in the Center headquarters and on the beaches awarded the Blue Flag. At Ceas Lago Baratz, the “Blue Point” will also be established, an information point to obtain information on the program. The beaches can be the subject of control visits by FEE officials, to verify compliance with the criteria established by the program; therefore, the confirmation of the assignment of the Flag it is never a given.
