The new phase of bad weather in the north-west of Italy, linked to the arrival of a disturbance which crossed the Alps between our country and France on the night between Thursday and Friday and is causing alarms and flooding in Val D’Aosta. In the morning today, Friday 21 June, due to the rains and the melting of the snow at high altitude, the levels of rivers and streams in Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta suddenly rose, and the situation, announced by Meteoweb among others, is destined to worsen in the next few hours, with a high risk of floods, as was announced by an alert from the two regional ARPAs.
On the Aosta side the municipal road between Champdepraz And Montjovet it is closed from the motorway underpass at the Loriaz hamlet roundabout due to infiltration from the Dora. In Chambave the mayor ordered the closure of the section of the cycle-pedestrian path in the direction of Fénis, due to partial flooding of the Dora in the Septumian hamlet.
The dam Valgrisenche Meanwhile, it has reached the maximum regulation level, forcing managers to release increasing quantities of water into the Dora di Valgrisenche stream which have further raised the river level. And more storms are expected in the afternoon.
In Piedmont the Dora Riparia has exceeded the warning threshold a Susa, with the level increasing by over one meter in a few hours while in Ceresole Reale the lake reached its maximum filling and the water began to overflow the safety canal, discharging into the Orco stream.
