World debut for the acrobatic theater show
Titizè, A Venetian Dream. From July to October 2024, the world premiere of Titizé – A Venetian Dream will be made on the stage of the Goldoni Theatre, the official show of the City of Venice co-produced by Teatro Stabile del Veneto-National Theatre with the Finzi Pasca Company in partnership with the company Gli Ipocriti Melina Balsamo, for the international stage of the Goldoni Theater in Venice.
The language of dreams
Faithful to the language of dreams that returns evanescent images, allusions and mirages, Titizè is a show that leads the spectator into a rarefied and surreal universe. His narrative, apparently fragmented but deeply allusive, develops in a kaleidoscopic game that intertwines different levels of meaning, recalling a hyperbolic grammelot.
Actors, acrobats, musicians and multidisciplinary interpreters immersed in dreamlike and rarefied universes. An acrobatic show for a theatrical expression based on wonder and amazement, which becomes a fundamental corollary for those who choose to visit the lagoon city from all over the world, between July and October. An event designed for the international relaunch of the Goldoni Theater in Venice, the oldest of modern theatres, which on the occasion of its 400th anniversary underwent a major restyling project financed by the Municipality of Venice. A place where the Venetian tradition of commedia dell’arte and prose theater are transformed into a show dedicated to an intergenerational and international audience, thanks to the use of the universal language of clowning, dance, music and acrobatic theatre.
Titizè, you are
“TITIZÉ”, “you are”: an emblematic word full of rhythm, which with its evocative sound draws attention to the power of the verb “to be”, underlining the universality of an experience imagined to intimately involve a heterogeneous audience of all ages. The show blends tradition and innovation in a fascinating combination of clowning, the language of the body and acrobatics – which allows us to allude, create metaphors, amplify emotions – and the use of innovative stage machines, giving life to a theater of amazement and of lightness, without having to resort to words.
11 acrobats, actors and musicians
With a cast of eleven talented performers, including acrobats, actors and musicians, TITIZÉ invites you to immerse yourself in the essence of Venice, where the past and the present mix in a single fascinating tale and the stories, scattered like shells on the beach, each with its beauty and mystery, they are recomposed into a precious mosaic.
A work by Daniele Finzi Pasca
The work is written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, one of the founding members of the company of the same name based in Lugano, Switzerland, which in its 40 years of international activity has created over 40 shows, including 3 Olympic ceremonies, 2 shows for Cirque du Soleil and 8 operas, which performed on the stages of around 600 theaters and festivals in 46 countries around the world, for over 15 million spectators.
Director’s notes
“The dramaturgy of our shows uses words sparingly but questions us with contradictory images, allusions and mirages – explains the author and director Daniele Finzi Pasca – there will be reflections in the water, the diaphanous blurring when the clouds hang low, there it will be the mythical game of masquerading which reminds us of veiling ourselves to reveal ourselves and then reveal ourselves again: the three magical movements that magicians and shamans know and pass down to each other. There will be the night and its madness, the antics of clowns, objects that will levitate, acrobats that will fly, real rain and surreal rain and a continuous recreating of impossible balances. There will be Venice with its splendor, its atmospheres, its poetry and the mysteries that inhabit it.”
Once the performances have concluded at the Goldoni Theater in Venice, where it will remain on stage from 18 July to 13 October 2024 every week from Thursday to Sunday, Titizé – A Venetian Dream will continue its tour in Italy and Europe, to then return to the Venetian stage for summer 2025.
