He had carried out two thefts in Siena, in two well-known commercial establishments in the centre: a hairdresser and a clothing store. Yesterday he was reported in San Gimignano.
Immediately after the thefts, the agents of the flying squad of the Siena Police Headquarters began investigations. Thanks to a careful and scrupulous reconstruction of the movements and through the examination of the city cameras, they had managed to put a face to the thief. The 26-year-old, after having forced the entrance door of both businesses with kicks and shoulder thrusts, had taken possession of the cash register of one of them. And he had stolen the contents, 800 euros. Then the cash register had left him on the street.
Investigations revealed that the same person was the perpetrator of the break-in. In this case, however, the man convicted of similar crimes had come away empty-handed. But he had caused damage to the shop window.
Once the thief’s face was identified, the police passed the information on to the police. Thus the soldiers of the San Gimignano carabinieri station recognized the person identified by the police, thus attributing a name to that face: it would indeed be the Tunisian, aged 26, well known to the force.
The state police then carried out a house search at the home of the Tunisian, presumed responsible, according to current investigative findings, for the double aggravated theft committed on the night between 4 and 5 June.
During the search of the apartment, further elements were found to support the investigative theory. Specifically, the particular t-shirt worn during the events.
The 26-year-old was therefore reported in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Siena, pending further investigative evidence.
