A contribution to allow women affected by cancer to receive a free wig, to follow the chemotherapy process with greater serenity. It is an IOR project that the Lions have supported for some time and which the “Forlì Host” club has further financed, delivering a contribution of 5,460 euros to the Romagna Oncology Institute. This is the result of the fundraising of two charity initiatives organized in recent months at the Teatro Dragoni in Meldola, made available free of charge by the municipal administration and the mayor Roberto Cavallucci

The first took place on Saturday 7 April 2024 when the musical group Tequila Sunrise held a concert featuring the most successful songs of the American band Eagles in front of a very large audience who filled the theater hall, thanks to the determined commitment of Giancarlo Giusti, member of the Forlì Host. The next event was held a week later, precisely on April 14th, and featured members of the Club, as well as family members, children and friends, who gave life to a very successful fashion show wearing clothes from the spring/ summer of the Forlì shops: Zoe donna, Zoe Uomo, Califa, Gioielleria Il Brillante, Ottica Gallery and Le Occasioni dell’Impronta di Terra del Sole. The event, presented by Fiorella Mangione and Andrea Bassi, was able to count on the organization of a group composed of Annamaria Vincenzi Vicino, who directed the fashion show, Manuela Asioli, Andrea Mariotti, Giancarlo Giusti, Bruno Vittori and Gabriele Zelli. The funded project is called “Margherita”: an initiative of the Romagna Oncology Institute which offers a free wig (and the advice of a professional hairdresser to help with the choice) to women who face hair loss during their oncological disease, caused by chemotherapy treatments. This is a difficult moment for many women to accept, to the point of having repercussions on their psycho-emotional well-being.

The director of the IOR, Fabrizio Miserocchi, in receiving the contribution from Alessandra Ascari Raccagni, president of the Lions Club Forlì Host, and from a delegation of members highlighted that the project was conceived and promoted in 2017 and is active in Institute locations in Forlì, Cesena, Ravenna, Lugo, Rimini and Riccione. During 2023, as many as 358 female cancer patients showed up at these locations, while multiple Romagna entities and many individuals supported the Margherita Project. With this latest donation, the Forlì Host Lions Club will contribute to the production of over 30 wigs.
