Fight under the arcades over a stolen backpack: one injured

Moments of fear yesterday morning among passers-by and residents of the area due to a fight that took place under the porticoes of Piazzale Marconi, right in front of the historic station of Reggio.

Two men, in fact, started fighting very violently under the porticoes, until a railway police patrol intervened after noticing the scene, to separate them.

They were a 34-year-old Nigerian man and a 31-year-old Tunisian man.

According to initial reconstructions, the Nigerian had recognized the Tunisian as the friend of a third party who had allegedly stolen a backpack from him in recent days. He would have thus approached the North African to ask for explanations and to be able to recover his backpack. To the 34-year-old’s insistent requests, however, the Tunisian replied that he didn’t know any of this and the blows then started from there.

The Tunisian suffered a minor head injury. In addition to the Polfer patrol, the 118 health workers intervened on site to treat the injured person.

The 31-year-old then expressed his desire to go to the police station to report his attacker: if the complaint is formalized, the Nigerian will therefore be reported by the police for personal injury.
