The highly anticipated Lombardia Challenge (Bulls Battle 2024) will be held in Gorgonzola on the weekend of 13-14 July 2024 at the Seven Infinity sports center. The event, now in its sixth edition, is a three-person team race with different participating categories, such as Elite, Regular, Experience, Master 110 and Master 130.
Organization and birth of the event
We spoke with Alberto Amore, from Brianza, the organizer of the event, who told us how his passion for CrossFit® and the creation of the Lombardia Challenge was born:
“My passion for this discipline began in 2012, when there were only a few of us practicing CrossFit®. I started CrossFit®Bicocca, as preparatory training for rugby.
The Lombardy Challenge, also known as Bulls Battle, was born in 2017, when my athletes expressed their interest and desire to compete and compete with other boxes. So, after various experiences competing in Italy, I decided to organize the first competition at the sports centre.
The competition is organized and designed by me, but during the competition I am supported by a super staff without which Bulls could not exist.
News and organization of the event
This year, the race presents some innovations compared to previous editions:
The most significant innovations this year are the teams of three and the inclusion of PJ, who will support us as in the winter race.”
Location and setup of the race field
The competition will take place in two main areas: the swimming pool and the football field, where the Gladius competition field will be set up. Alberto tells us:
“Being a sports center with a lido, we can offer many activities including a beach court, slides in the pool and a children’s play area. It is ideal for spending a fun weekend with the family too.”
WOD details
The participants they will face four Workouts, created by Alberto with the help of his coaches. The WODs are designed to test the annual hard work of athletes, both from an aerobic and a weightlifting point of view. The fifth and final wod will be exclusively for the finalists.
Winter edition and differences
Alberto tells us that there will also be a winter edition:
“We have already organized the winter edition in the past which we will propose again this year on 22/23 November, inside the sports center building which is suitable for welcoming a large public for an event that has proven to be much loved and popular.
Differentiating element of the event
According to Alberto, what distinguishes the Lombardia Challenge is thebalance of WODs and well-equipped warm-up area:
“The workouts are designed to always be challenging and engaging. Our warm-up area is air-conditioned and has enough equipment for everyone. During their free time, athletes can relax in the pool and socialize with other athletes from all over.”

“Unlike previous editions, this year in the pool workout one member of the team may not swim… but he will sweat a lot! I advise teams to train well in synchro because the Bulls is not a race where you just watch.”
