A very strong jet of water flooded the beach area in Stabia, an incessant waterfall that brought the area leading to the bathing establishments and towards the Sorrento peninsula to its knees.
Emergency vehicles have arrived on site and the people who live in the building below as well as the swimmers on the beaches were made safe. Below the waterfall there is also a restaurant, completely invaded by the river of water.
Mayor Luigi Vicinanza also headed to the scene: «Due to the sudden failure of the water main. Traffic along via Acton is interrupted, from the intersection with via Vecchia Pozzano to the main road. Furthermore, as a precaution, in agreement with the Local Police, the section of the state road was also closed.
Transit to and from the Sorrento Peninsula is only permitted from the Tunnel. There are no injuries.”
