Yesterday someone attempted to introduce some blocks of hashish and mobile phones into the Foggia prison using a drone. Another person apparently tried to climb over the grating that separates the surrounding wall from the area cultivated by prisoners, a strictly prohibited area.
Federico Pilagatti of Sappe reported that in the first case, the officer in charge of the control room noticed the drone near the detention sections while checking the video surveillance cameras. The agent raised the alarm, allowing the translation unit staff to intervene and prevent the delivery of the goods, which were then recovered.
In the second case, the individual was stopped together with his accomplice, who was waiting for him in the car outside the structure. “The episode is very strange, since a couple of weeks after another in which a person had stealthily entered the prison square during the night hours,” declared the trade unionist Pilagatti.
“The autonomous penitentiary police union thanks all the policemen who participated in the operations which prevented the introduction of prohibited material into the prison, but at the same time it is very concerned about these incursions which could serve to test the prison’s security mechanism and the times of reaction of the penitentiary police, in the face of actions organized by criminals to carry out sensational gestures. We must not forget that the arrogance of Foggia crime, among the most dangerous and bloodthirsty at the moment, has even reached the prison gates with the murder of a semi-free prisoner who was returning to the penitentiary after a day’s work outside“.
