BUSTO ARSIZIO – Mirror trick, Serial scammer caught. Investigations closed and the car was seized. A 44-year-old resident of the area, already known to the police force and belonging to a family of scam professionals, is in trouble. This time, however, the man lost his “work tool”: the investigating judge of the Busto Arsizio court Anna Giorgettiat the request of the public prosecutor Nadia Calcaterra who coordinated the investigations, ordered the seizure of the old Punto Abarth used by the 44-year-old not only in the last robbery but also during other scams, as ascertained by the investigators.
Car seized
The facts date back to June 1st. The modus operandi is always the same. The 44-year-old threw paint cans at an elderly motorist’s car, starting the show. With the cars stopped the scammer explained to the victim that he had broken his mirror of the car indicating red paint marks on the victim’s car as proof of the impact. The rigmarole continues with the usual proposal to fix the damage in a good way without involving the insurance companies. The 44-year-old asks the elderly man for 150 euros, then settling for “only” 50 or everything the man had in his wallet. However, the scammer’s maneuvers were noticed by an off-duty local police officer from Busto Arsizio.
Towards the trial
Who, becoming suspicious, reached the elderly man and asked him to explain what had happened. Not only that, once the scam was confirmed, the agent made his mind up and recognized the 44-year-old. The investigations led the investigators straight to the professional of the scam and to his car, i.e. the Punto used to deceive the elderly man as well as other victims. The prosecutor’s office has now closed the investigation and the investigating judge has ordered the seizure quote for the car and a trial is on the horizon for the 44-year-old.
